Q. Do you use anesthetics? A. Yes! I use a bit of topical lidocaine in a cream form. Additionally, I use a proprietary mixture that has about 1 percent lidocane.

Q. What do I need to bring? A. An uncircumsised baby boy, 4 diapers, wipes, a bottle (or Mom!) a pacifier, blanket, and anything else you think your baby would like. I will provide all necessary items for the circumcision itself.

Q. Would you do home visits? A. If you are located in the Greater Pittsburgh area, I would be happy to come for a home visit! Please call to arange a time that is convient for you, and to discuss further.

Q. How long is the procedure? A. The procedure itself should take about 5 minutes, and I will be there for about an hour total from preparing to explaining and demonstrating the after care.

Q. How long does it take for the area to heal? A. It takes about 2 weeks to heal completely but after the first 24 hours it will mostly be back to normal!

Q. How old should my baby be to get circumcised? A. Jewish Law dictates that a baby boy should have his Bris on his 8th day of life (7 days counting), unless he is specifically not medically cleared to do so. This time frame is also recommended for most effective healing and causes the least pain to the child. However, I can perform circumcisions on babies up to 6 months old.

Q. Do you take insurance? A. SafeCircumcisions does not accept medical insurance, as circumcision is not a medical necessity. However, if your doctor has determined that it is for your child, we can provide a reciept for your insurance provider and you can likely get reimbursed from them using out of network benefits, depending on your insurance plan.

Q. Will my baby be in pain? A. Your baby will likely cry mostly because he is cold. The experience is similar to a shot: a small amount of pain during the short procedure, and that's it! In this case, your son has the added benefit of being numbed beforehand :)
